Available for orders end of August will be an upgraded SATaRE device equipped with the new Sirfstar 4 GPS module and data logging.

Sirfstar 4 features:-

• Sirfstar 4, GSD4e GPS chip
• 9.6 x 9.6 x 1.85 mm only
• Ultra high sensitivity: – 147dBm (cold start) / – 163dBm (tracking)
• Low Power Consumption: 56mW@1.8V
• 500uA average power consumption with SiRF Aware
• Host port configurable to UART, SPI or I2C
• Several further Sirfstar 4 advanced power modes
• Carrier Wave Jammer remover, track and remove up to 8 Carrier Waves
• Self assisted A-GPS = Generating of A-GPS data with Client Generated Extended Ephemeris (CGEE).
• Indoor tracking by using of 3D sensors on I2C-bus

 This new chip consumes 20 times less power than its previous model.  The updated chip will also take less time to get a lock on its position, due to a lower power state.

SirfStar 4 offers a “self assisted GPS ” = CGEE (Client Generated Extended Ephemeris). The GPS module will calculate its A-GPS data independently for 3 days in advance. Last but not least this SirfStar 4 based GPS module offers an I2C interface to ta 3D-sensor for indoor positioning.
